The Society for Theriogenology’ s third annual Student Chapter of the Year (SCOTY) Award will be presented in Asheville, North Carolina at the annual Awards Dinner prior to the Theriogenology Foundation Live Auction. This award, sponsored by Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, will recognize the student chapter that most exemplifies the SFT's Mission: …to promote standards of excellence in reproductive medicine, to provide outreach and education to veterinarians, and to foster continual improvements in theriogenology. The winning chapter will receive a traveling banner for display at their school for the following year, a plaque recognizing the award and a prize of $1,000 to be used to host a chapter event and/or speaker. Second place will receive a plaque and a prize of $500 to be used for chapter events.
Scoring (60% of points) will be based on chapter information garnered from the application form (below) and submitted to the SFT office by June 1. Additionally, 30% of points will be awarded for chapter participation at the annual meeting in Asheville in July 2016, including number of student attendees, paper submissions, T-shirt design competition, etc. Points are awarded for participation in each activity. Beginning this year each team will also receive an extra point for submitting a basket of their school items for the Silent Auction. Winning or placing in any of these activities (e.g. winning the T-shirt design competition, having a paper accepted for presentation or poster, etc.) results in additional points for each chapter. The final 10% of the award will be based on participation and placement in the Merck Student Quiz Bowl, which will be held at the Asheville conference. This exciting event will take place on Thursday, July 28 as a part of the extended Exhibit Hall Opening Reception kick off. This will be an exciting event for students, conference attendees and exhibitors. We look forward to seeing you all in Asheville!
