Registration for Milwaukee - Early discounts end July 1 

SFT Members who register before July 1 can save at least $70!  Registration is on the SFT website - - for the upcoming conference in Milwaukee, August 9-13, 2011. You can register online or print off the form and fax or mail it into the SFT office.   

We've invited the original ACT diplomates to join us and this year's Bartlett Award will have opening remarks by Dr. David Bartlett himself. We will have our Family Fun Night at the Milwaukee Public Museum on Wednesday, Thursday night is our Auction and Therio Awards Dinner and Friday night we will attend a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game.

There are three great symposia on Saturday, August 13. We will host a Canine Breeders Session, a Small Ruminant session and a National Symposium for Dairy Farmers. Those who attend the general SFT conference can attend any of the symposia for the discounted price of $95.00.

SFT Student members can register for the conference in Milwaukee at nocharge before July 1. In addition, Dr. Marty Greer has made arrangements for some veterinary students to have accommodations provided with local families so that they can afford to attend.  3rd Annual Theriogenology
Foundation Silent/Live Auctions

Dr. Dwight Wolfe selected 2011 Bartlett Award winner

Dwight F. Wolfe, DVM, MS, DACT of Auburn, Alabama has been selected as the 2011 recipient of the David E. Bartlett Award. This award is presented annually to a distinguished individual who has made important contributions to the field of theriogenology.(more)

Dr. Cheryl Lopate 2011 Dr. John Steiner Award Recipient

Congratulations to Dr. Cheryl Lopate on being selected as the recipient of the 3rd Annual John Steiner Award for Excellence in Practice. Dr. Lopate will be presented the award at the Annual Therio Awards Dinner, August 11, 2011 in conjunction with the annual Therio Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. (more)



AVMA applauds Senate passage of bill to repeal 1099 tax language

Aleen Cust - Britain's First Woman Veterinarian made veterinary medicine her life's ambition.

Apart from overcoming barriers of tradition and sexism to go down in history as Britain's first woman veterinarian, Dr. Aleen Cust was, by all accounts, a remarkable woman.

Born in 1868 in Ireland, Dr. Cust was an independent soul, driven and career-oriented at a time during the late 19th and early 20th centuries when British convention considered such qualities to be out of place in a respectable woman. (more)

 Veterinarians Call for Solutions to Production Animal Cruelty

The majority of us don’t think about where our meat, dairy and eggs are produced.  But, on occasion, undercover videos surface, highlighting horrible abuses and cruelty on production animal farms.   But is that indicative of normal practices, or hyped for shock effect or fund raising?  What’s the true reality here?
