2024 Bartlett Award Winner

Dr. Dale Paccamonti

A native of Kankakee Illinois, Dale Paccamonti moved to East Lansing MI to attend undergraduate school in pre-veterinary studies at Michigan State University. After graduating from MSU with a BS in zoology, and working various jobs and travelling, he returned to his original goal of becoming a veterinarian. While completing his pre-vet requirements, his interest reproduction began when taking courses taught by Harold Hafs. To gain veterinary related experience, he worked as an artificial insemination technician in Deckerville, MI, for Select Sires.

He was accepted into the DVM program at Michigan State University in 1978. His interest in theriogenology was furthered by having Dave Morrow as his professor of theriogenology. After finishing his DVM studies, he accepted a position in a dairy/mixed practice in Chestertown on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. After four years in practice, at the urging of Dr. Peyton Jones he entered the Matching Program and left Maryland for Gainesville, FL for a combined residency/MS in theriogenology where he was fortunate to get to work with an amazing group of theriogenologists (Archbald, Asbury, Drost, Larsen, LeBlanc, Shille).

Dr. Paccamonti became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists in 1987 and completed his M.S. the following year. Although swearing upon graduation from MSU that he would never set foot in a university again, he accepted a faculty position in theriogenology at Louisiana State University in 1988, with the intention of returning to private practice after a couple of years. Dr. Paccamonti retired from LSU in 2020.
