SFT Student Chapter of the Year (SCOTY) Award 

AWARD Eligibility for SFT STUDENT ChapterS

1) Officially registered with SFT
2) Has official faculty advisor who is SFT Member
3) Minimum of five paid student members
4) Advisor or Chapter President submits completed application form by June 1, 2025

SFT invites applications for its Sixth Annual Student Chapter of the Year (SCOTY) Award, to be announced Saturday, July 26th at the Annual Therio Conference. This award honors the student chapter that best embodies the SFT’s mission of advancing excellence in reproductive medicine and veterinary education. To be eligible, chapters must be officially registered with SFT, have a faculty advisor who is an SFT member, include at least five paid student members, and submit a completed application by June 1. Prizes include a $1000 award and traveling banner for the winning chapter, with $700 for 2nd place, $500 for third place and $300 for fourth place.

Awards will be announced at the 2025 Therio Conference. Thank you to our 2025 SCOTY Award sponsor, Lane Manufacturing.

 

Scoring

60% will be based on chapter information garnered from the application form (below) and submitted to the SFT office by June 1, 2025.

30% will be awarded for chapter participation at the annual meeting, which includes number of student attendees, abstract submissions, etc. Points are awarded for percentage of chapter member participation in each activity. Winning or placing in any of these activities (e.g. having a paper accepted for presentation or poster, etc.) results in additional points for each chapter.

The final 10% will be based on participation and placement in the Annual Therio Trivia Night Competition.

The application is a summary of the academic year August - May to be completed by Chapter President or Advisor; it must be submitted by June 1, 2025.

The following will also be taken into consideration; this information will be gathered from records from the SFT office: 

• Number of members attending SFT/ACT Meeting
• Number of members submitting to the Dr. Jimmy Alexander Student Case & Research Abstract Presentations
• Participation in Therio Trivia Night
